The San Jose Sharks acquired Tyler Kennedy from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for the No. 50 overall pick in Sunday's 2013 NHL Draft.

The Penguins sent Tyler Kennedy west for the No. 50 pick in the draft.
Kennedy had just 11 points in 46 games this season, a major drop off from his 11-goal, 33-point showing in 2011-12. His struggles did not go unnoticed by Dan Bylsma, who made Kennedy a healthy scratch in six of the Penguins’ 15 playoff games.
Kennedy can be an restricted free agent on July 5. The Sharks will likely try to sign him to a new deal before he hits the open market and may have to match the two-year, $4 million contract Kennedy signed in 2011 to keep him from testing free agency.
Prior to the trade, the Penguins did not have a selection until No. 77 overall. Pittsburgh traded away several picks to acquire players last season and general manager Ray Shero said prior to the draft that he hoped to move into the second round.
