2013 NHL Draft: Flyers select Samuel Morin with No. 11 pick

The Philadelphia Flyers selected Samuel Morin with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

The Philadelphia Flyers have selected defenseman Samuel Morin with the No. 11 overall selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Morin is described as an above average defender with offensive upside. Morin has shown development throughout his career and participated in competition in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Canadian Hockey League Prospects game and the Under-18 World Championships in Russia over the course of the 2012-13 season.

According to International Scouting Services, Morin has ample room to continue develop his two-way style of play and is considered a raw prospect capable of growth. His weaknesses are listed as requiring more of a physical presence when engaging with attackers on the outside and working on his footwork. However, his skating ability is considered high when taking into account his size.

He is projected to be a second pairing defenseman who can play on special teams.
