Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith will face a discipline hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, according to multiple reports on Wednesday morning. The time of the hearing has yet to be released, but it is expected to take place at some point on Wednesday.

Duncan Keith will have a meeting with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday.

Keith will be speaking with player safety because of a high sticking incident which occurred during the second period of Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Tuesday night. After engaging with Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter behind the play, Keith attempted to connect on a retaliatory slash. Instead of hitting Carter in the body, Keith connected with Carter's face.
During postgame media availability, Keith expressed that it was not intentional. His on-ice reaction also indicated that he did not purposefully hit Carter in the face. Carter was not available to the media because he required dental work as a result of the incident.
Los Angeles head coach Darryl Suter did not believe that Keith would receive supplemental discipline, but expressed that he should have received a stiffer on-ice penalty.
Whether the league believes the play deserves discipline remains to be seen. What is clear, though, is player safety at least wants to discuss the incident with Keith.
