Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron gave his end-of-season media availability on Tuesday morning. Due to the multitude of injuries Bergeron sustained during the Stanley Cup Final, he spent a few days in the hospital and was unable to speak with the rest of the team last week.

Despite a multitude of injuries during the Stanley Cup Final, Patrice Bergeron will not require surgery and should be ready for the start of training camp.

Bergeron sustained torn cartilage in Game 4, a broken rib in Game 5 and a separated shoulder in Game 6. In addition, his lung was punctured, which apparently resulted in its collapse. Had the Bruins managed to force a deciding Game 7 in Chicago, Beregron stated he would not have been able to play in the contest.
In order to play in Game 6, Bergeron required a nerve-block procedure during warm-ups to subdue the amount of pain he was feeling from the torn cartilage and broken rib. He needed to undergo the procedure during the second period, as well. When discussing the potential danger he put himself in by participating in the contest, Bergeron stated that he has no regrets about the decision he made. He believes any other player on the team would have done the same thing.
Bergeron will not require surgery this summer to repair the injuries and believes he will be ready for the start of training camp.
