The Carolina Hurricanes have come to terms on a contract with unrestricted free agent forward Nathan Gerbe, the team announced on Friday morning.

Nathan Gerbe has agreed to a two-way contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The two sides agreed to a one-year, two-way contract worth $550,000 at the NHL level or $150,000 at the AHL level, with a guaranteed payment of $250,000.
Gerbe was extended a compliance buyout by the Buffalo Sabres earlier this offseason. The 26-year-old forward had one year remaining on a three-year contract that carried an average annual value of $1.45 million against the salary cap. He was due $1.85 million for the 2013-14 season and will be compensated with $308,333 annually for the next two years as part of the buyout, according to CapGeek.com.
In 42 games over the 2013 season, Gerbe collected 10 points (five goals, five assists), while averaging 12:30 of ice time per game.
