Unrestricted free agent forward David Clarkson has agreed to terms on a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to Darren Dreger of TSN on Friday afternoon.

David Clarkson has agreed to terms with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The financial terms of the agreement have not been made available at the time of this writing. However, Dreger is reporting the deal is seven-years in length.
Heading into the 2013 season, many speculated that Clarkson stood to earn a sizable raise come this offseason. Entering the final-year of a three-year, $8 million contract that carried an annual average value of $2.6 million against the salary cap, the 29-year-old was largely seen as the best option for teams looking to add a power forward via free agency.
This led to speculation that upwards of 20 teams had varying degrees of interest.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2005, Clarkson spent the entirety of his career with the New Jersey Devils franchise. Despite receiving an offer from manager Lou Lamoriello the weekend prior to free agency, Clarkson and his representation opted to test the open-market.
The end result was an agreement with Maple Leafs.
In 426 career regular season games, Clarkson registered 170 points (97 goals and 73 assists).
