Dalton John Young, a member of the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, has been charged with assault with the intent of great bodily harm less than murder for stabbing the father of his girlfriend. In addition, the 20-year-old is being charged with first-degree home invasion, as well as resisting and obstructing a police officer.
OHL player charged with assault for stabbing girlfriend’s father
Dalton Young has been charged with assault after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend’s father in the back.

Young had been arrested on Thursday of last week after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. After being arraigned and released under a no contact order on Friday, Young visited his girlfriend’s home, according to Police Chief Tim Buelow as told to the Times Herald.
Upon learning that she wasn’t home, Young purportedly forced his way into the home, entered the parent’s bedroom and went into the kitchen. The girl’s parents then phoned Young’s parents, who came to the residence. While the two groups of parents were conversing, Young left the kitchen and stabbed the girl’s father in the back.
Young will be in court on Aug. 20 for a preliminary hearing.
The Saginaw defenseman has spent the last three seasons in the OHL. He has one year of eligibility remaining in the league.
