The St. John’s IceCaps will be hosting the 2014 American Hockey League All-Star Game, the league announced on Tuesday morning. In addition to the All-Star Game on Feb. 12, the festivities will also include a skills competition on Feb. 11.
AHL All-Star Game 2014: St. John’s to host game vs. Swedish club
The American Hockey League has announced that the 2014 All-Star Game will feature a unique matchup.


The 2014 AHL All-Star Classic will feature a unique matchup, as a team of the league’s best players will challenge Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League. This will mark the first time that a team from the Swedish Hockey League will play a game in North America.
“The SHL is proud to be a part of this event and it is a positive step in the direction our league is heading,” said Jörgen Lindgren, CEO of the Swedish Hockey League, via press release. “Most importantly, we are proud to give North American hockey fans a unique sports experience.”
