Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul can't seem to catch a break.
Joffrey Lupul is day-to-day with back spasms
The sniper had been taking part in informal skates before the start of training camp.

After spending most of last season out of the lineup with either a broken arm or a concussion, Lupul's 2013-14 started with him missing practice due to back spasms, the team announced Thursday. Lupul is currently listed as "day-to-day" and skipped the Leafs first on-ice work at training camp. Lupul wasn't the only Leaf to sit out, as Colton Orr was shut down for a week with a bone bruise in his leg.
The 29-year-old Lupul only played in 16 games last season, but put up 18 points in them. He followed it with three goals in the Leafs' seven-game first round playoff series with the Boston Bruins. Just as the 2012-13 season began, Lupul signed a five-year, $26.25 million contract extension with Toronto, which begins with the 2013-14 season. That's obviously off to an inauspicious start.
Lupul came to Toronto in a trade from Anaheim in 2011. However, it was the 2011-12 season in which the Alberta native revived his career, putting up 25 goals and 67 points in 66 games. Both numbers either evened or broke career high marks.
