Mikkel Boedker, Coyotes struggling to agree on term in contract negotiation
The Phoenix Coyotes and Mikkel Boedker are attempting to negotiate a contract extension. The player’s agent says they are struggling to find common ground on term.

Boedker completed the final season of a two-year, $2.2 million contract that carried a $1.1 million annual average value against the salary cap in 2013, according to CapGeek.com. The two sides have been unable to negotiate a new contract to this point and training camp is just around the corner.
Boedker’s agent, Jarrett Bousquet, told Sarah McLellan of AZ Central that the primary issue in negotiations hasn’t been money, but rather the term of the contract, via AZCentral.com:
“You can’t get to a number unless you can get to term, and sometimes getting to a term that works for both sides isn’t as simple or easy as it may look from the outside.”
Boedker opted not to file for arbitration, which Bousquet explained was because his client wants to be in Phoenix and didn’t want to settle for a one- or two-year deal. So, at the very least, we know that the player is interested in an extension that spans three seasons or more.
