The financial situation surrounding the Ottawa Senators has been a focus for several months now. Those concerns might be alleviated this week, as Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports the Senators are nearing a long-term television and radio broadcast agreement.
Senators nearing new broadcast deal
The Ottawa Senators are nearing a new broadcast rights agreement.

Garrioch writes that the deal is in its final stages and that a formal announcement should be made this week, via the Ottawa Sun:
League sources told the Ottawa Sun the Senators are just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s and the club is close to announcing a historical, long-term deal for the local television and radio rights.
The affiliation of this deal was not provided in Garrioch’s report.
The Senators are reportedly in the final year of their radio agreement with TSN 1200, as well as their television agreement with Sportsnet. Garrioch writes that a bidding war has ensued between Sportsnet and TSN for the Senators’ local rights. Rogers, the parent company of Sportsnet, completed a historic 12-year, $5.2 billion agreement with the NHL for the Canadian broadcast rights. This apparently intensified the negotiations for the Senators’ local package.
