For the first 50 minutes on Monday night, the Carolina Hurricanes could not beat Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky no matter what they did or how many shots they fired at him.

And then the Staal brothers showed up.
Eric Staal scored a pair of goals just one minute apart to erase a 2-0 Blue Jackets lead, and then less than two minutes after that Jordan Staal did this to Ryan Murray and Bobrovsky to score what would go on to be the game-winner.
With both teams involved in the pile-up of mediocrity that is the Metropolitan Division playoff race, that is a costly loss for the Blue Jackets.
A two-goal lead with 10 minutes to play should be a win just about every time, and letting it slip away is always going to be frustrating. But to turn it into a loss against a team you’re in direct competition with for a playoff spot makes it that much worse.
With the win, Carolina moves one point ahead of Columbus in the standings for third place in the Metropolitan Division.
