Matt Hunwick saves a goal with last-second stick save
Henrik Lundqvist’s shutout almost never happened.

New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist played in his 51st career shutout on Sunday, an impressive team record that required a lot of help from his defensemen along the way. For example, Lundqvist should be buying Matt Hunwick dinner tonight for making the biggest save of the shutout.
In the seventh minute of the first period, San Jose Sharks forward Matt Nieto deflected a shot from the half-boards that somehow trickled through Lundqvist towards the net. Hunwick showed tremendous awareness, breaking free of Logan Couture in time to drag the puck off the goal line.
Just look at how close it was:
Enjoy your free dinner on Lundqvist’s dime, Hunwick. You earned it.
