Buffalo Sabres end ridiculous drought with first power play goal

The Sabres hadn’t scored on the power play in over half a year!

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

It's no secret that the Buffalo Sabres have been comically terrible so far this season. Their 2-8 record is one of the worst in the league, they just played probably their worst game in franchise history on Tuesday and local paper cartoonists are comparing them to classic horror films.

But at least they made some strides on Thursday when Drew Stafford scored on the man advantage to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead over Boston.

Prior to that goal, the Sabres had been 0-for-43 on the power play dating back to last season. 0-for-43! The odds of that happening in the NHL are pretty incredible.

Oh, Sabres. You continue to impress us all with your commitment to awfulness.
