Aaron Ekblad scores 1st NHL goal against Philadelphia

The young Panthers defenseman made a tremendous difference in his team’s win on Saturday.

The Florida Panthers have improbably earned points in their last six games after a 2-1 win over Philadelphia on Saturday, thanks in large part to their youngest defenseman.

Aaron Ekblad, the first overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, has been outstanding to start his NHL career. His solid play up and down the ice so far wasn't complete until he scored his first NHL goal on Saturday to give the Panthers a two-goal lead. It was ultimately the game-winner, too, as the Flyers scored with just 7.4 seconds remaining in the game. It's just more proof that Ekblad is already the difference-maker the Panthers expected him to be when they drafted him.
