The Carolina Hurricanes won the battle between teams who came in on a roll as they took out the Calgary Flames 4-1 at PNC Arena in Raleigh. The win was the fifth in six games for the Hurricanes and they have points in all six.

Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk was a force as he scored a goal and had two assists to lead the way offensively. Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist and Cam Ward stopped 22 shots.
Calgary defenseman Mark Giordano extended his point scoring streak with an assist on a power play goal by David Jones in the first period. Jonas Hiller had a tough night with 27 saves. To show you how fickle streaks can be, the Flames came into the game on Tuesday winners of four of their past five games, but have now lost two of their last three.

2. Justin Faulk isn’t too bad either. There’s something to be said for teams that haven’t been great the past few seasons having a defenseman that can help spark the offense when you need it most. Faulk’s three-point game carried the Hurricanes.
3. Is... Is Cam Ward back? He's won five straight starts and given up seven goals and has a shutout. That mark is good for a .946 save percentage. He had a rough start to the season, but he's been great lately and stood tall against the Flames with 22 saves. It was assumed at the start of the season that Anton Khudobin would just assume the starting job at some point. That's not happening right now with Ward on fire.
