Kari Lehtonen had a Save of the Year candidate
Jarret Stoll thought he had a goal in the bank. He was very wrong.
Dallas Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen may have made the save of the year.
With 6:44 to play in the second period, Los Angeles Kings forward Jarret Stoll thought he scored an easy one-timer to the left of Lehtonen to help bring the Kings to within 2-1. As you can see, he was very wrong.
Lehtonen dove to his left across the crease and snagged Stoll’s shot out of the air, keeping enough control of his glove hand to make sure he didn’t accidentally put the puck across the goal line himself.
The Stars lead the Kings, 2-0, after two periods and a lot of that is thanks to Lehtonen’s play.
