Watch Ryan Callahan score against the Rangers

The former New York captain helped the Lightning get one against his former team.

Ryan Callahan was one of three former New York Rangers who made their returns to Madison Square Garden as members of the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, but when you're the former captain people are paying closer attention to you. Good thing for the Lightning that Callahan rose to the occasion.

With Tampa Bay already up 1-0 in the first period, Callahan beat Henrik Lundqvist for a power play goal to make it 2-0.

Callahan was set up by Steven Stamkos on the play. We know Stamkos is a great goal scorer, but he can pass the puck pretty well, too. Look how he threads this past Dan Girardi to Callahan.

About that Rangers defense, though ... Girardi gets abused by Callahan. The two are jockeying for position down low and Callahan shoves him off to make room and Girardi is left flailing about trying to stop a pass he never had a chance at stopping. Look at this again:

Only thing that would've made this play harder on Rangers fans would've been Anton Stralman and Brian Boyle setting it up.

As if all that wasn't enough, Martin St. Louis scored a power play goal early in the second period to even the score between "guys who used to play for the team they're playing against."
