How to watch Friday’s NHL schedule, start times, TV coverage and live stream

It could be a big night for hopefuls in the Connor McDavid sweepstakes. There’s also a preview of the 2015 Winter Classic as well.

You could argue it’s too early to start scouting how the race for Connor McDavid is going, but that would mean ignoring our own McDavid Watch as well as the platter full of potential lottery foes facing each other on Friday.

All eyes will be on Buffalo at 7 p.m. ET as the Edmonton Oilers head to First Niagara Center to take on the Sabres. The Oilers are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday that saw the Bruins take the game over in the third period.

Playing the second game of a back-to-back set against the mostly rested and slowly improving Sabres has all the makings for a possibly bad night for the Oilers. If the Oilers lose to Buffalo, they could end Friday night with the worst record in the league.

That might all depend on how the Carolina Hurricanes do at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Like the Sabres, the Hurricanes are playing better of late and teams have been getting their lumps in on the Blue Jackets while virtually half the team is injured.

If you're looking for a game without lottery aspirations, the Chicago Blackhawks host their 2015 Winter Classic foes, the Washington Capitals, at 8:30 p.m.

Here’s the full schedule. All games are available on NHL Center Ice and NHL GameCenter Live in the United States.
