Dan Girardi’s neck gets cut by Nazem Kadri’s skate blade

That was too close to being a serious injury.

Dan Girardi should count his blessings, because he was maybe inches away from suffering a serious injury on Saturday.

When the New York Rangers defenseman got tangled with Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri in the corner, Kadri fell and his leg came flying up. Of course, that meant his skate followed through and the blade appeared to catch the back of Girardi's neck.

It looked awful. Luckily the cut wasn’t very big at all.

We’re honestly surprised this doesn’t happen more often. But thankfully it appears Girardi escaped a scary play with just a cut.
