Datsyuk hasn’t appeared in a game for the Red Wings since the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day and has sat out 14 straight games, a stretch that has seen the Red Wings go 7-5-2 and barely hang on to the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
Even though he’s remained out of the lineup he has been practicing with the team this week.
In 35 games this season Datsyuk has scored 15 goals to go with 17 assists.
Detroit has two games remaining before the Olympic break, including its game on Thursday in Florida, and a game on Saturday in Tampa Bay.
