Kris Letang has been absent from the Penguins lineup since Jan. 27 with an undisclosed health condition. While his status remained very much uncertain, and he's missed Pittsburgh's last four games, the worry around his situation increased last night when Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported whatever was ailing Letang was "not believed to be life-threatening."

On Friday, the Penguins released an update on the defenseman.

While it clarifies the situation around Letang, the news is still troubling, although the condition can be treated with blood thinners, per the Penguins. The stroke occurred in late January, and as the Penguins updated, Letang is expected to be back later this season, and his condition is not considered career-threatening.

Most importantly, it’s great to hear Letang is both out of the hospital, and getting treatment.
