The NHL has officially announced on Sunday that the postponed March 10 game between the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets will be rescheduled for April 9.

The game was initially postponed when Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench. He was rushed to the hospital and treated for a cardiac event, while the league postponed the game due to the emotional duress suffered by players on both sides.

The original game, which was halted at 6:23 of the first period due to a medical emergency involving Stars forward Rich Peverley, will be played for a full 60 minutes of regulation time, plus any potential overtime and shootout.
The rescheduled contest will begin with the Blue Jackets ahead, 1-0 -- the score at the time play was stopped Monday. A goal will be credited to Nathan Horton, with assists to Matt Calvert and James Wisniewski. All other statistics will be expunged.
As the Stars note, restarting the game from the exact time and score as when it was paused isn't without precedent. The NHL did the same thing in 2005 when a game between the Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators was postponed due to Jiri Fischer collapsing on the ice.
Although Fischer retired from the game after the incident, it’s still unclear how Peverley’s career will be affected by his cardiac event in the long term. His season is over as he will undergo a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat.
The rescheduling throws an interesting twist into the playoff races in both conferences, as the game will be the second half of a back-to-back situation for both teams. Columbus plays the Coyotes at home and the Stars play the Predators the night before the rescheduled game.
With both teams fighting for the final wild-card spot in their respective conferences, Columbus and Dallas could be forced to play their starting goaltenders on back-to-back nights. The game will also be Dallas’ fourth game in five days, so expect fatigue to play a factor.
