Patrick Kane injury: Blackhawks forward will miss 3 weeks

Patrick Kane suffered a leg injury after Brenden Morrow fell on him on Wednesday night.

This is not what the Chicago Blackhawks need as they get closer to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Late in the second period of their game against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night, leading scorer Patrick Kane had to exit with a left leg injury after Brenden Morrow fell on him awkwardly. He did not return to the game after slowly skating off the ice and heading to the locker room.

According to Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, Kane will be sidelined for about three weeks as a result of the injury and it is not yet known if he will return before the end of the regular season.

The injury happened after Morrow was checked along the boards by Blackhawks forward Peter Regin and his momentum carried him into Kane's leg. Kane logged 7:54 of ice-time and recorded an assist on Duncan Keith's power play goal before leaving the game.

Even though he’s been in a bit of a slump recently (by his standards), recording five points in nine games since returning from the Olympic break he is still on top of Chicago’s scoring list and in the top-10 of the league with 69 points in 68 games.

Chicago defeated St. Louis 4-0.
