Team defense with the Washington Capitals

Want to be a good defensive team? Do the opposite of this.

Patrick Smith

Like many teams at the bottom of the Eastern Conference playoff race, the Washington Capitals are in desperation mode heading into the stretch run and need to pile up as many points as possible over the next two weeks. Through two periods against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, they were not doing a great job achieving that goal, falling into a 3-0 hole.

The third goal, which ended the night for starting goaltender Jaroslav Halak, was a rather interesting effort defensively.

Here we see Chris Brown, John Erskine and Julien Brouillette triple-teaming Alex Chiasson, and then forgetting about the puck as Dallas' Dustin Jeffrey swoops in unnoticed and chips the puck in over Halak.
