The Kings offense arrived
Well this certainly escalated quickly. After trailing the Blackhawks, 2-0, with less than two minutes to play in the second period the Kings turned into an offensive juggernaut and scored six goals over the final 22 minutes of regulation. Jake Muzzin's power play goal, already his fourth goal of the playoffs, went into the books as the game-winner and it wasn't a particularly good goal for Corey Crawford to give up from that angle. -
Brandon Bollig can't take penalties
As a hockey player, Brandon Bollig has a very limited role. He's going to provide his toughness and he'll get into the occasional fight when he feels it's important, but he's not really the type of player you want taking too many shifts in the third period of a close game in a series with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final on the line. That's because he might do what he did early in the third period on Wednesday when he took a dumb penalty away from the play to give the Kings a power play. Drew Doughty's shot from the point found its way through traffic to beat Crawford to tie the game and from there the floodgates opened for the Kings offense. -
Nick Leddy is pretty good
One of the early highlights for the Chicago Blackhawks came from defenseman Nick Leddy when he jumped ahead of the play on a power play, blew past Matt Greene, and beat Jonathan Quick with a ridiculous backhand shot. Leddy looked a little like Patrick Kane on that play. If nothing else that trade with Minnesota a few years back that saw the Blackhawks sent Cam Barker to the Wild for Leddy is certainly paying off.
