Dan Carcillo suspended 10 games for physically abusing official
Dan Carcillo will likely be out of the Rangers lineup for the remainder of the playoffs after he abused an official in Game 3.

Don’t hit the officials, Dan Carcillo. It’ll get you a 10 game suspension.
The NHL has handed down that automatic suspension to the New York Rangers forward after he made contact with linesman Scott Driscoll during the first period of Eastern Conference Final Game 3.
Rule 40.3 in the NHL’s rulebook calls for an automatic suspension for “any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner, which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official.” Suspensions of three games, 10 games or 20 games can be applied, depending on severity of the incident.
Earlier on Friday, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said that a suspension would be "common sense." If the Rangers advance to the Stanley Cup Final, Carcillo would only be eligible to return for a potential Game 7, and that's only if the Conference Final series against Montreal goes seven games.
Here’s the incident, as it occurred at the 14:08 mark of the first period:

Carcillo will not forfeit any salary, as NHL players do not collect regular paychecks during the postseason.
