Derick Brassard oversells legitimate high-sticking penalty in Game 1
Brassard made absolutely sure everyone knew he was violently high-sticked.
Derick Brassard had quite a second period in Game 1. After getting sent to the penalty box for boarding Los Angeles Kings captain Dustin Brown, Brassard was apparently intent on proving he's all about player safety.
So much so that when Kings forward Mike Richards whacked his visor, Brassard fell to one knee as if he had been bludgeoned in the face with a baseball bat instead of a hockey stick.
There’s no doubt that it was worthy of a penalty, but Twitter wasn’t buying whatever else Brassard was selling.

— Winging It In Motown (@wingingitmotown) June 5, 2014 That was the most spectacular embellishment of a legitimate penalty I've ever seen.
— Kid Ish (@kid_ish) June 5, 2014 Would have liked to see Brassard spin around a few more times to drive the point home a little better
— Pensburgh (@Pensburgh) June 5, 2014 Derick Brassard has screwed himself through the ice and into the earth's core.
