NHL free agency rumors: Colorado to pursue Jarome Iginla

With Jarome Iginla set to hit the market, the Avalanche will make a push for the veteran forward.

While the Boston Bruins would love to bring back veteran forward Jarome Iginla, the newly 37-year-old forward is going to hit the open market come noon, and the Avalanche will reportedly make a push for him.

After spending his entire career in Calgary and a brief 13-game stint in Pittsburgh, Iginla landed in Boston last season, keeping up his regular scoring output and tallying 30 goals. Iginla was reportedly seeking a two-year deal, and with the Bruins already sniffing the cap ceiling, other suitors were expected to enter the fold in pursuit of the forward with 560 career goals.

Colorado has already been busy this offseason, after acquiring Daniel Briere Monday in exchange for P.A. Parenteau and a fifth-round draft pick. The biggest item on the docket for the Avalanche is re-signing unrestricted free agent Paul Stastny, who's set to test the market at noon.
