It looks like Capitals will have brand new logo, uniforms for 2015 Winter Classic
Twenty-four hours ahead of the official announcement, it looks like the team logos for the 2015 Winter Classic have leaked.
It looks like the Washington Capitals are going completely outside the box on their look for the Winter Classic.
We’ve sort of assumed all along that they were going to probably just use a red version of their vintage uniforms (and the uniforms they wore for the 2011 Winter Classic in Pittsburgh), but this choppy image via Russian Machine Never Breaks seems to spit in the face of that theory. It’s from an employee (?) at Nationals Park, where on Tuesday the NHL and the Capitals will unveil full plans for the 2015 Winter Classic, including the uniforms for the home team. That’s a circular logo with a ‘W’ in the middle and the word “CAPITALS” across the middle. And it looks primarily blue, not red.
As for the Blackhawks logo, it looks like they're going to keep it simple. Hard to tell exactly what it looks like in the photo below, but from what we can tell, it's a lot like the vintage logo they had for the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
The Blackhawks won’t unveil their uniforms on Tuesday, but the Capitals will.
