Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby will miss the NHL All-Star Game with a lower-body injury, according to a team announcement.

Crosby has been playing through the injury recently, per the announcement. He was held without a point in the Penguins' 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. Crosby will not be eligible to play in Pittsburgh's next game, a Jan. 27 contest against the Winnipeg Jets, per league rules regarding players missing the All-Star Game. His injury will need about a week to heal, anyway, according to the announcement.

Crosby's teammate, Evgeni Malkin, also won't play in the game because of a lower-body injury, per the team.

Sitting out the All-Star festivities is nothing new for Crosby, who hasn’t played in the game since 2007. The 27-year-old star is coming off a successful year in which he led the league in points and won his second-career Hart Trophy.

Crosby has 51 points -- 15 goals and 36 assists -- in 43 games for the second-place Penguins this season.
