NHL Saturday: Phil Kessel bests Maple Leafs in first reunion

It probably seems like an overstatement at this point in the year, but when a team breaks out to an 0-6 record to start a season it’s hard to understate anything about their performance. And it’s not like the winless record is a fluke or a product of bad luck in close games.

It’s a moment of crisis for the entire organization, from general manager Jarmo Kekalainen all the way down to newly minted captain Nick Foligno. But maybe they need only look at their complete opposite for insipiration.

It is hard to blame him, however. And reports are starting to pop up that head coach Todd Richards might face the ax sooner rather than later.

Hossa is 36 years old, has back problems and can still outskate anyone on the ice. He is a national hockey treasure, no matter which team you’re a fan of. Cherish him.

Holtby’s mask came off as well, but the referees didn’t stop the play, and the Hurricanes tried to shoot a puck in from the point. The worst almost happened as Holtby scrambled to cover his face.

The best-case result for the Wings is that Emelin’s timing is all out of whack now and he’ll never throw a hit again out of fear. Justin Abdelkader is a genius.
