Jack Eichel scores his first career goal in his NHL debut

The first of many.

The second night of NHL action this season was an important one because of two debuts. Highly touted rookies Jack Eichel and Connor McDavid both started in their first NHL games for the Sabres and Oilers, respectively. The only question was who would score first.

It was the American. While McDavid skated with the Oilers in search of his first tally, Eichel beat him to the punch in Buffalo with a goal in the third period against the Ottawa Senators.

To be fair, neither Eichel or McDavid are going to miss many open nets like that. Still, it was a special moment for both Eichel and the fans in Buffalo who have waited for a franchise-changing player like him for years.

Your move, McDavid.
