The New York Islanders could only stand and watch as the Montreal Canadiens scored their first goal 2:52 into their Friday night matchup. It wasn't because they weren't doing their jobs, however, but because Brian Flynn's initial shot fools essentially everyone on the Islanders side, even goaltender Jaroslav Halak.
Not one New York Islander could find the puck on Jeff Petry’s goal
Everyone was mesmerized, and not because it was pretty.

— Stephanie (@myregularface) November 21, 2015 The shot from Flynn takes a really strange arc, as it looks as if he tries to lift the puck through the slot to the waiting player on the other side. Instead, it seems as if Marek Zidlicky's stick deflects the puck up high, and not in the place Halak was expecting. While the goaltender does a full 360 in the crease, Jeff Petry sneaks in behind the turned defense and pops the puck in just as Halak realizes where it was.
The puck basically sat there for a good few seconds before Petry pokes it home, as essentially no New York player on the ice had any clue where it went.
