After a huge weekend that started with a 4-2 win over Canada, the United States will have to face a Sweden team missing two key pieces after their first day of the tournament. Auston Matthews and captain Zach Werenski led Team USA with a combined three points as the team opened the tournament coming back from a one-goal Canadian deficit.

Game 2 is just an hour away for Team USA.

On the flip side, the Swedes lost William Nylander and Adrian Kempe to injuries in their 8-3 rout of Switzerland. Nylander has been confirmed out for Monday's contest against the United States while Kempe took a hit in the win that knocked him out of the game, but the right winger says he's feeling fine and he should return for the second game of the tournament.
It’s still early, but this Group A match comes between two undefeated teams in what will probably be the United States’ biggest test outside of rival Canada in the pool play. The Swedes have scored the most goals in the young tournament so far and they boast quite a talented group of kids even without Nylander. Sweden will have to keep up the offensive production without Nylander in the meantime, however, and they’ll have to do it against Werenski’s hard-nosed defense, which shut down Canada in the later stages of the third period Saturday.
A win for the United States and they’ll have the chance to lead Group A depending on the result of Denmark and Canada later in the afternoon.
