Dominic Moore robbed of goal by referee’s whistle

New York should have gone into first intermission with a 1-0 lead. Instead, the score remained tied after the opening period.

Bob Stanton-USA TODAY Sports

A little more than halfway through the first period of Wednesday's contest between the Rangers and Blackhawks, New York forward Dominic Moore crashed Chicago's net, got the puck on his stick and swept it past Scott Darling into the net.

The play should have resulted as a goal for the Blueshirts, however one of the referees had blown his whistle before Moore converted. It seems the official thought Darling had control of the biscuit when he covered it up with his glove. Clearly that was not the case, and it may have cost New York in a big way.

Moore, who has one goal in his last 16 appearances, could have really used this one.
