Goaltender Ben Bishop earns two assists in second period

The 28-year-old doubled his season point total in less than five minutes.

An eventful first period in which the Tampa Bay Lightning unleashed 13 shots failed to yield a goal, as Montreal Canadiens netminder Carey Price -- a virtual lock for the Vezina Trophy -- bailed his team out on several occasions.

In the second, Price’s adversary helped give Tampa a much-needed offensive jolt.

A little more than a minute into the middle frame, Lightning netminder Ben Bishop fired a long pass down ice to Steven Stamkos, who dished the puck to Vladislav Namestnikov, who beat Price to break a scoreless tie.

About five minutes later, Bishop handed the puck off to Anton Stralman on the power play as the Lightning started a breakout. Stralman then fired a pass to Jonathan Drouin at Montreal's blue line that resulted in a breakaway goal -- giving Bishop yet another point.

This productive stretch doubled Bishop's point total and put him in the league lead for assists by a goalie with four. He's the first netminder to rack up two helpers in a game since Ryan Miller did so on Feb. 25, 2014.
