Capitals vs. Islanders, 2015 NHL playoffs Game 6: Start time, TV schedule and live stream

The Islanders haven’t advanced past the first round of the NHL playoffs since 1993. They must beat the Capitals at home in Game 6 on Saturday to first force a Game 7 in their first-round matchup.

The New York Islanders return home, trying to stay alive against the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their NHL Eastern Conference first-round playoff matchup at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday night in New York.

The Capitals lead the best-of-seven series, 3-2.

After three straight games decided by one goal, the Capitals scored the final five goals on Thursday night to cruise, 5-1 in Game 5, their second straight win.

The Islanders were 25-14-2 at home during the regular season, and looked in good shape after capturing Game 1 of the series in Washington. But now they must win two straight games or find themselves at home before the second round for a 22nd consecutive season.

“At some point it was going to come to this, right?” Islanders head coach Jack Capuano told NHL.com. “We have a chance in our building to take it to a Game 7. Our backs were up against the wall a lot this year. We’ve responded really well and I think we’ll do the same tomorrow.”

.Game 6 will be televised nationally by NBC beginning at 3 p.m. ET, with Chris Cuthbert and Joe Micheletti on the call.
