The Tampa Bay Lightning took Game 1 against the Montreal Canadiens with a double-overtime road win. Out west, the Chicago Blackhawks scored three early goals and beat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 at home in Game 1.

Tampa Bay held home ice advantage in the first round last year against the Canadiens but were swept in four games. They looked to return the favor in Game 1, and almost did so in regulation.
This was the first overtime game of the second round of this year’s playoffs, after 10 of 47 games went into overtime in the first round.
