Ladd retrieved the puck at the opposing blue line near the benches but sensed Gaustad bearing down on him. Before Ladd could chip the puck in, Gaustad shoved him in the back and sent him flying into the boards head-first.
Ladd looked shaken up but managed to get up under his own power and retreat to the locker room. He appeared none the worse for wear. Gaustad was assessed a two-minute minor for boarding but remained in the game.
