It's not the medal they want, but Team USA will play for the chance to take home the bronze medal of this year's World Junior tournament after a 2-1 loss to Russia on Monday. A lapse in the second period saw two goals scored by the Russians, and it would be all they needed to knock the United States out of the elimination rounds for the second straight year.
World Junior Hockey 2016 schedule: Team USA looks for bronze, Russia vs. Finland for gold
It’s the last day of the 2016 World Juniors and one of these teams will go home without a medal.

Russia will face home country Finland in the gold medal match after the Finns also escaped a one-goal game against the tournament’s best in Sweden by a score of 2-1. For Team USA? It’s Group A opponent Sweden in the bronze medal game, with the Americans having previously conceded a 1-0 shutout loss to the Swedes earlier in the pool play last week.
