Morning Skate: Jarome Iginla shrugs the monkey off his back with his 600th goal
Iginla joined elite company last night.

Lace ‘em up. Time for the Morning Skate.
★★★
IGGY GETS IT: Jarome Iginla can finally relax after scoring his 600th career goal on Monday.
ELITE COMPANY: Iginla is just the 19th player in NHL history to reach that mark.
OFFICIALLY ON THE BOARD: It almost took a full week, but the Ottawa Senators finally scored a goal in 2016! It took overtime to beat the Blues, though.
SCORES FOR YOU, SIR OR MADAM:
Red Wings 1, Devils 0
Senators 3, Blues 2 (OT)
Avalanche 4, Kings 1
Oilers 1, Hurricanes 0 (OT)
Coyotes 3, Canucks 2
MAKE IT COUNT: Only one goal was scored between the Devils and Red Wings, and Dylan Larkin made sure it was a beauty. Larkin leads all rookies in goals with 14.
EVERYONE WANTS DROUIN: So many of our team blogs are making cases for acquiring the Lightning prospect. Second City Hockey thinks he’d help the Blackhawks’ top line, while Stanley Cup of Chowder thinks the Bruins have the prospects to make a deal and Silver Seven wonders if Tampa Bay would be interested in Mike Hoffman.
IN ACTUAL NEWS: But there’s a real report out there claiming the Rangers are “in big-time” on Drouin.
NOTHING NEW: Drouin isn’t the first prospect to request a trade and he won’t be the last. Meanwhile, we tried to figure out which teams made the most sense in a possible trade.
LOVE THE NEW GUY: Pittsburgh fans are already loving new coach Mike Sullivan.
MISSED OPPORTUNITY: The NHL’s promotion of the Women’s Winter Classic was laughable.
ALL SMILES: No one has ever been happier to lose teeth than Daniel Sedin.
DO RESEARCH NEXT TIME: Team USA lost in the semifinals to Russia after coach Ron Wilson said he had no idea who played for the Russians.
AT LEAST HE TRIED: That didn’t keep USA goalie Alex Nedeljkovic from making some incredible saves in the loss.
ONE LAST TIME: It’s the last day of World Juniors! USA plays Sweden for bronze while Finland and Russia play for gold.
