U.S. Navy SEALs rappelled from the rafters to drop the puck before the Florida Panthers game

This is new!

Earlier this week we saw a dog drop the puck in Anaheim. Now Florida’s getting in on the celebratory puck drop action after a group of Navy SEALs rappelled from the rafters and dropped the puck before the Panthers game.

Yep, that’s four Navy SEALs — in full gear no less — rappelling down from the ceiling of the BB&T Center.

The event kicked off the Panthers’ “Military Appreciation Night” celebrations with Veterans Day just around the corner.

The Panthers do have a history with the military. Their owner, Vincent Viola, is a graduate of the United States Military Academy. Florida’s new jerseys and logo are homages to the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, of which Viola was a member of. The Panthers also played a preseason game at West Point this year!
