Evgeni Malkin likely owes his goaltender an apology. Maybe two, if we’re being honest.
A Penguins’ forward accidentally slashed his own goaltender in the face with his stick
Friendly fire strikes in a bad spot for the Penguins.

Near the end of the first period between the Penguins and Capitals, Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray had his mask ripped off his face accidentally by Malkin. The Penguins forward was clearly coming in to clean up around his goaltender’s crease after Murray had made a pretty great save.
Instead, he took the helmet off his own goaltender, then preceded to slash Murray in the face with his stick.

To add insult to injury — literally — the entire scuffle resulted in a power play for the Capitals. Even worse? Marc-Andre Fleury had to play the final moments of the period and allowed a goal on the first shot he saw, which gave the Capitals a 3-0 lead after one frame.
Oops?
