Hockey referees, like all sports officials, are very much maligned by fans. Sure, they have a tendency to make bad calls and miss offenses against your team only, but they’ve got one of the hardest jobs out there! Which is why when they do anything fun, it gives me just a tiny bit of joy.
A NHL referee called a penalty with a stick in his hand and we have so many jokes
For Narnia!

For instance, take this referee in Buffalo during a game between the Sabres and Lightning. See anything interesting here?
Let’s enhance.
Watched hockey for 30+ years. First time I have ever seen a ref make a call with a stick in his hand. pic.twitter.com/v1vBe0eGaP

Yes, this referee called a penalty with a stick in his hands! It’s a small moment, but honestly we can make so many jokes here. Is he recreating an iconic 1980s movie scene, complete with music? Is he gearing up for a big battle with an inspiring speech? Take your pick on which one I mean. Seriously, there’s a lot of these scenes. Is he preparing himself for a staring role in a hot musical? There are so many options!
Regardless, look at this and tell me it doesn’t give you joy?
