In the head, no less.

The NHL wrapped up a fairly busy afternoon of suspensions on Friday by handing another one down to Ottawa Senators forward Mike Hoffman for his actions against a San Jose Sharks winger on Wednesday.

Hoffman was less than pleased with Sharks forward Logan Couture shoving him to the ice in the third period. Hoffman retrieved the puck, got up, and made a bee-line for Couture.

The Senators forward was given a five-minute major for cross-checking and a game misconduct (essentially his ticket to hit the showers early). The Department of Player Safety took into account Hoffman’s lack of disciplinary history and the lack of an injury of a play into consideration when handing down the suspension.

Hoffman will forfeit $57,638.88 of his salary, as determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. That money will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
