The Edmonton Oilers signed winger Milan Lucic to one of the offseason’s most lucrative contracts. Primarily to hit things that drift near Connor McDavid’s orbit, but also to score occasionally. He is usually good at that when asked.
Milan Lucic misses a wide-open net after awful Blues turnover
That’s an expensive miss.

But not on Monday. With the Oilers tied with the St. Louis Blues, 2-2, late in the third period, Blues goalie Carter Hutton made a horrible mistake behind his net. He played the puck straight to Lucic, who saw a gaping net ...
... and somehow hit the side of it. From that angle it looks like he almost hit more of the goalie than the empty net.
Yeesh. Lucic is signed for $6 million a year over the next seven years. Hopefully that’s the worst shot he takes over that span, eh?
