Flames score 5 goals on Ducks in 6 minutes

They wouldn’t stop.

For a minute there on Sunday, it seemed like the Anaheim Ducks were going to leave Calgary feeling good about a hard-fought road game against the Flames, regardless of the result.

And then that hope escaped from them faster than the Millennium Falcon flying the Kessel Run.

Anaheim and Calgary entered the second half of the second period tied at 1-1. By the end of the frame, Calgary would lead 6-1. Not only did they score five goals in one period, they did so in the span of six minutes.

And the first three happened in less than two minutes!

The go-ahead tally came on the power play from a weird Troy Brouwer deflection in front of goalie Jonathan Bernier. No big deal, though. Just a one-goal game.

Within 50 seconds, the Flames drove back down, crashed the net and potted another one.

And then 33 seconds later, they capped off the tip of the Ducks’ collapse with a slap-shot goal from miles away.

Yeah. Not a great look. Neither was the look Ducks coach Randy Carlyle gave after the fifth goal went in four minutes later.

If you’re interested in what the possession charts look like, it really does seem as if the Ducks just got abducted by aliens randomly in the period.

No word on if the inevitable Ducks’ bag skate will be televised.
