Oh good, that was last year. We don’t have to think back too far. McDavid, essentially considered the second coming of Sidney Crosby, was beginning the second month of his highly-anticipated rookie year.
And then Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Brandon Manning helped put him on the shelf for most of it.
With a shoulder injury suffered on that play, McDavid missed most of the season and lost out on what probably could’ve been a rookie season for the ages.
He didn’t forget. The Oilers played Manning and the Flyers on Thursday, and McDavid scored a power play goal while Manning was on the ice, and as Manning passed him, McDavid said some, uh, words.
That’s the angriest I’ve ever seen Connor McDavid, and I’m not sure I ever want to see it again. I shall refrain from getting on his bad side.
Apparently Manning was chirping at McDavid throughout Thursday’s game, saying (according to McDavid) that the hit last year was on purpose despite how much McDavid tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.
