Carolina Hurricanes have some sort of black magic working for them on deflection goal

There’s some wicked sorcery happening here.

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

Deflections are very hard to control in hockey. After all, most hockey players aren’t internally calculating the perfect angle their stick needs to be at in order to redirect the puck into the net. There’s no exact science involved when players place their sticks at approximate angles in hopes of a successful deflection.

However, the Carolina Hurricanes may have invoked some black magic on this one.

Chris Terry is the Hurricane who seemingly calls upon otherworldly powers that allow the puck to arc perfectly in the air over Sharks netminder Martin Jones. Not only does the puck curve right over Jones' shoulder, the replay shows an almost unreal quality to the deflection as the puck falls right into the goal.

Or, Terry’s little push with his stick gave the puck extra spin that allowed for such a crazy goal. Could still be magic, though.
